A Word From Our Pastor
Journeys feature strongly in the Bible. For a person making the journey, or a group making a journey together, these journeys often have deep significance for their relationship with God. One of the first we read of early in Genesis is a "cruise of epic proportions", one involving the Ark of Noah, and the salvation of the world. Others journeys include the pilgrimage of Abraham and Sarah and their journey toward the land and heritage of faith which God had promised them. There is the journey of Exodus from Egypt which Moses and Miriam led the early Israelites on, a journey to the Promised Land. The journey of God's faithful people is recounted throughout our scriptures. . . and continues in and through our lives today. To stretch the analogy, my wife and I love designing and hosting journeys around this world of ours. We've "hosted" many tours for groups of various sizes in recent years; to the Passion Play in Oberammergau Germany, and to Switzerland and Austria in 2000; to Churches of the Revelation in Turkey and Greece in 2002; on a Presbyterian Heritage tour to Scotland and England in 2003; and on a Russian River Cruise in June of 2004, on the Pilgrimage of St. James to Santiago de Compostela, Spain in 2005; on a Cruise-Tour to Alaska in 2006; and to China in 2008. This past June, we enjoyed exploring Prague, Budapest, and other points and taking in the Passion Play of Oberammergau once again. For our next great adventure in international travel we are inviting you on a Cruise-Tour to some of the most ancient and exciting points along the Mediterranean. This trip combines the luxury of a Mediterranean Cruise with stops to see Toulon in southern France; Florence, Rome, Naples and Pompeii in Italy; Athens and the Greek island of Mykonos; a visit to Istanbul and Ephesus in Turkey; and a concluding visit to Venice. We would love to interest you in coming along on this adventure. You can find all the details, cost and itinerary HERE or pick up a copy at the church office. Please give this trip careful consideration . . . but act soon to register. Time is of the essence, as cruises book early. We need to hear from you by early June to insure space on this unique cruise. Join us in yet another journey of faith, Scott Rev. Scott G. Loomer floomer3@aol.com
